Bess Homer is a Strategic Planner at Scottish Water and is the Project Sponsor for the Chemical Investigation Project Scotland and chairs the Plastic Impact Reduction Group.  

Bess has over 25 years of experience in the Water Industry working to protect the environment.  She has worked in areas such as the Chemical Investigation Project Scotland, Water Framework Directive, Plastic Impact Reduction, Environmental Regulation, Investment Planning and Trade Effluent.  Bess has a BSc (Hons) from the University of Aberdeen, a MSc in Marine Resource Development and Protection from Heriot Watt and a PgC in Environmental Quality Management from De Montfort University.  Bess has been working on Chemical Investigation Project since 2015 which in response to the Priority Substances Directive and aims to identify the substances of concern, their sources and concentrations leaving the sewerage system and how to deal with those substances of concern in the most sustainable way. Bess is on the Steering Group for the UKWIR Chemical Investigation Programme 3 and the steering group for the OHBP.
