OHBP members attended World Water Day 2024 in Edinburgh, the annual event hosted by the Hydro Nation International Centre and Scottish Government. This year the theme was “Leveraging Water for a Just Transition”, and some of the main questions sought to address were: How can water act as a strategic asset to transition to a more sustainable economy in a way that is fair and inclusive to everyone? How can we maximise the co-benefits from water-related activities? How can water contribute to climate resilience? How can we leverage partnerships and cooperation (theme of Scotland’s WWD2023) drawing on local, regional, and transboundary examples.
The OHBP featured strongly in last year’s event (including keynote) as a successful example of a multi-agency and cross-sector partnership driving impact through collaboration. This year the OHBP had a stall and promotional materials to showcase the transdisciplinary and innovative work undertaken by it’s members. There was a spotlight on Blue-Green Prescribing “A Prescription for Scotland’s Healthy Population and
Healthy Planet”, presented by PhD student Julze Alejandre (a Hydro Nation Scholar).
