Pharmaceutical pollution is an increasing global challenge that impacts ecosystems and human health in various ways and through various pathways. It also exacerbates selection and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through the environment and threatens future access to effective medicines.
In this Climate Change and Antimicrobial Resistance (CLIMAR) webinar, Dr Kelly Thornber will talk about pharmaceutical pollution, and a systems approach to developing a UK national strategy concerning its reduction.
Date: 14 January 2026, 11:00-12:00 GMT

Kelly Thornber is CEO and Co-Founder of the Pharma Pollution Hub, an independent change hub and registered charity helping to build sustainable pharmaceutical systems by transforming the way our society produces, uses and disposes of medicines.
She has worked at the intersection of medical and environmental research for over 20 years in a variety of academic, science communication and project management roles. In 2024, she co-founded the Pharma Pollution Hub after recognising the need for an independent knowledge broker and thought leader to drive systemic, collective action on this complex yet critical issue.
