OHBP members from University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and NHS Highland are collaborating with researchers from Uppsala University and the Swedish Medical Products agency to drive One Health research and innovation in Scotland and Sweden. In December, researchers from UHI undertook a mobility visit to Uppsala to develop outputs and engage new members in the network. The visit was part of the UUniCORN-funded project “Bridging Waters” – exploring goal conflicts linked to pharmaceutical pollution, water quality, climate change and the interconnected health of humans, animals, and ecosystems. UUniCORN is an institute at Uppsala University for research and collaboration on goal conflicts in sustainable transformation.
The visit also included invitation to the 80th Anniversary of the Nobel Prize for the Discovery of Penicillin by Sir Alexander Fleming, Sir Ernst Chain, and Lord Howard Florey at the British Ambassador’s Residence, Stockholm. The event featured remarks including from Ambassador H.E. Mrs Samantha Job CMG MVO, UK Special Envoy on AMR Dame Sally Davies, and founder of ReAct Professor Otto Cars, alongside a select group of distinguished guests, including leading researchers, policymakers, AMR advocates, and philanthropists.
